An entrepreneurial effort to develop, brand, and launch a new cryptocurrency-backed lending company.

I was responsible for marketing strategy and establishing the brand identity.


BACKGROUND

Cryptocurrency, as we know it today, exploded onto the scene with the launch of Bitcoin in 2009. Serving as the first mainstream decentralized asset, it rose in popularity (and value) rapidly in the years following its launch. The blockchain technology behind it was the reason for its success, as it provided a decentralized, secure list of records that could serve as a permanent, public, transparent ledger of transactions—without the need for a trusted authority or central server. Blockchain has many uses beyond cryptocurrency, though, and it continues to grow today.

One such use is automated smart contracts, which could be executed or enforced without human interaction. LienChain aimed to build on this, introducing an innovative, blockchain-based lending platform.

My role with LienChain was to establish its visual and tonal identity, as well as develop all of our communications and marketing efforts to both launch and grow the brand. This included design work for the logo, website, collateral, presentations, and some communications work (community engagement and preparing press/PR material).
